Tom Rosenthal is a professional photographer residing in Chatham, New York.  His commercial photography career has allowed him the freedom to shoot in many areas, including advertising, publishing, and sports, as well as locally for magazine, architecture and wedding clients.

His own yoga quest brought him to Mysore, South India, for the first time in 2004, in search of the traditional yoga.  It took very little time to realize, in some profound way, he had come home.  It is said that those of us who are drawn to Ashtanga yoga have had yoga in their past lives.  In India his yoga practice took root and he enjoyed a rebirth of joy in photography.  In 2009, Tom was honored by his guru, Sharath Rangaswamy,  by being authorized to teach Ashtanga yoga.

Tom describes his five years of photography in India as another practice.  It was only a matter of time before he discovered the potency of combining images of yoga asana with the sacred sites that have nurtured and motivated people for centuries.  In this photography there was no goal, no result envisioned, only action in the present moment.  It is not Tom's intention to show perfection in postures or to teach yoga through photography, but simply to celebrate the sublime beauty of the form and that of spiritual India.  “Om tat sat.”  Om and nothing more.
